Supporting Our Community Through Change

We’re reaching out with transparency and hope. Like many families in our community, arts organizations – particularly Black-led ones – are facing significant financial challenges. Our heart remains committed to providing exceptional dance education, but we need your help to make our award-winning summer program possible this year.

To ensure we can deliver the high-quality training you’ve come to expect, we need a minimum of 30 passionate students ready to immerse themselves in a full day of dance. No audition is required – we simply ask for your dedication to an enriching eight-hour dance day experience.

We understand these are challenging times for everyone. Rising costs, reduced funding, and economic uncertainty affect us all. The Ngoma School has faced our own hurdles, including significant cuts to our funding. But we believe in the power of our community coming together. If you’re interested in joining us this summer, please visit our website to complete our interest form.

Together, we can keep dance education thriving in our community.

Since 2014, Summer DanceLab has provided an opportunity for aspiring 7-young adult dancers to train in a pre-professional dance environment training eight hours a day, from one to four weeks of dance study during the summer. We provide pre-professional dance training that informs and encourages, the pursuit of post-secondary education, healthy living, mentorship, self and life skill mastery. The Summer DanceLab is part of The Ngoma School – the official school of Dissonance Dance Theatre – and is central to our effort to empower a generation of young artists to be the change agents of their community.
