Inspired by the musical sounds of the ancient Silk Road trade routes and Gary Chapman’s five “love languages,” Habibi traces the communication of love between friends, lovers and family — fusing the sounds of the east with dance of the west. Performed to traditional Hebrew song, and as well as music by Yo Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Hassaon Hakmoun, Shades of Black.

Weak is the flesh of man. It is the act of selflessness that bares remembrance — greater than any physical occurrence.
– Shawn Short

Love is universal, complex and simple. To be loved is to be human. Choosing the way to love can make or destroy human connectivity. In today’s world, we have to choose to sustain its efforts or the communication of love is dead.
– Shawn Short, Principal Choreographer
